About the Role
The Kenosha News is a daily newspaper with circulation of 10,000 daily and 11,000 Sunday and Wednesday. We've won several first place statewide awards in recent years and we've got a strong digital culture. We focus on local content of what's of interest to our readership. Both experienced journalists and new journalists are welcome to apply. Writing samples and photos from college papers are welcome. We will offer training to the right person. The position requires some night and weekend hours, with some flexibility with the work schedule. The ideal candidate would be able to cover a variety of stories from news to features to sports. An interest or background in politics is a plus as is experience with digital platforms. We cover an urban, suburban and rural area with its downtown along Lake Michigan. The county sits between Milwaukee and Chicago. Kenosha County is a community that has its own identity and relies on the Kenosha News for news and information.
Requirements
We're looking for a part-time newspaper reporter/photographer who writes clearly, can develop relationships with sources and has an ability to take initiative. Responsibilities will include writing, taking photos and video for the paper, posting content online and on social media.
